Xbox recently announced a partnership with Inworld AI to revolutionize game development with the help of AI-powered tools. In a blog post, General Manager of Gaming AI at Xbox, Haiyan Zhang, reflected on the progress of gaming AI, starting from the days of Ms. Pac-Man to the present. She emphasized the transformative potential of modern AI in creating dynamic narratives, living worlds, and complex characters.
While traditional rule-based AI laid the groundwork, the introduction of Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s GPT has opened up new possibilities for game developers. These models offer endless opportunities for fostering creativity, simplifying complexity, and enhancing player engagement.
This strategic partnership between Xbox and Inworld AI could usher in a new era in game development. The collaboration aims to merge Inworld’s expertise in generating AI models for character development with Microsoft’s state-of-the-art cloud-based AI solutions, including Azure OpenAI Service.
The main goal of this partnership is to provide a user-friendly and responsibly designed multi-platform AI toolkit. This toolkit consists of two key components.
Xbox is committed to promoting meaningful innovation, empowering individuals and organizations, and ensuring responsibility through this initiative. The partnership is aligned with Microsoft’s AI principles and Responsible AI Standard, which encourages responsible AI development.
Partnering with Inworld AI allows Xbox to make game development more accessible and encourages developers from all backgrounds to push boundaries, experiment, and shape the future of gaming.
